Were going on a bear hunt

We used trays with different materials mentioned in the bear hunt story e.g water for the river and leaves for the forest. The children took turns to walk through each tray and describe how it felt. Some children repeated the phrases from the story as they walked through the trays.

Whats in the bag?

We found a surprise bag in our classroom! we decided to to see what was inside and we talked about what each object was. We had lots of discussion about the objects which included a camera, wellies, a torch, notepad, bear and a map. We decided it was a bag about a bear hunt so we read the book 'Were going on a bear hunt'. We then looked carefully at the last picture of the bear and talked how they bear was feeling and reasons why. Some of us thought he was "sad because he didn't get to eat the bear" (Lucas) and some thought he was "sad because he wanted to play with them" (Grayson).
