A purpose built classroom catering for children aged 2, Nethertots provides a happy and safe environment for the children to grow in independence and gives them the best start in their education .
We aim to support each child to identify their own sense of identity and self - worth, as well as focusing on each and every child’s individual needs and interests.
Facilities
Our two year olds have their own purpose built classroom with age appropriate resources and furniture. We have a large outdoor space for the children to explore.
At this age, children are at different stages with their toilet training and we will support them and you as their parent. We have excellent changing facilities for those still requiring them; access to potties and access to their own toilets in the bathroom. Children are given plenty of verbal praise and encouragement to succeed.
Sessions
We offer morning sessions which start at 8.30-11.30. The children who have a funded place are entitled to 15 hours a week free.
Parents who are paying for sessions it is £12 per session.
If you would like your child to stay until 12 noon this would be charged at £3 daily and a packed lunch would need to be provided.
Snack is provided and we ask for a donation of £1.50 per week.
The focus of the session is Learning through Play, with a routine that incorporates adult led activities and builds on children’s developing knowledge and curiosity. Our toys and activities are carefully chosen to promote physical coordination and manipulative skills, role-play and creativity. Children take part in focused and creative activities throughout the morning . Children have a free choice of which activity they take part it, the room is well equipped with plenty of resources.
Children are provided with many different activities along with music and movement, song times, and outdoor play. Story and Song time takes place every day and is an opportunity to take part in group activities and listen to stories; staff use props and puppets during these times to hold children’s attention and develop their concentration.
Children spend a lot of their time outdoors and have access to a large outdoor area.
Makaton Story and Rhyme Time
Every Tuesday the children take part in ‘Makaton Story and Rhyme Time’ with Lorna Hutton. These are interactive sessions which introduce children to Makaton signs and symbols through songs, rhymes, games and stories.
Settling In
Before your child starts with us we will arrange a home visit. This is a perfect opportunity for you and your child to meet the staff and us to meet you. We will answer any questions or worries you may have. We will arrange a starting date and time. On their first day, they will be given an hour slot ‘settling in day’ after that we tailor the settling in procedure to what is best for you and your child.
Home visits can not be carried out at the moment due to covid restrictions.
