We believe that developing a love of exercise and sport at an early age can have a positive impact on a child's life.
At Netherton Infant School we work closely with SportsTrek coaching and the "Little Changes" programme targeting and marrying together motor and sporting skills children need with activities they enjoy most.
The programme is broken down into six core modules:
Healthy Food, Healthy Me - Educating children in Good foods (and drinks) and Not so Good!
Ready, Steady Go- activities improving children's reaction and balance skills
Getting Sporty - Encouraging children to develop sporty skills such as throwing, catching, dribbling and racket/bat use.
Train to Gain - Junior exercises aimed to develop muscular and aerobic endurance in the child.
Fun to Run - Improve and develop children's basic running skills over smaller distances
Team Play - Encouraging children to show support and play as a team member.
Activities are planned so that children do the exercises together at the same time and can develop comfortably at their own pace.
Each session, regardless of what module (from above) is broken down into 3 parts. starting with "Warmup/work out" followed by "Fast Feet" (using ladders and hurdles) finishing with "Fun N Run" (game time eg. dodgeball, hockey, handball etc.)
